Inside Me.

How am I supposed to feel about this exactly?

There lives more faith in honest doubt,
Believe me, than in half the creeds.
~Alfred, Lord Tennyson, In Memoriam
— Currently swimming in a sea of doubt and confusion, which apparently is more honest than thinking I’m striding on solid ground. Maybe Socrates was truly right and we really don’t know anything at all. Or maybe we do, but it’s evolutionarily useful and necessary to doubt because that way we don’t stagnate in the security of confidence but continue digging deeper, forging new questions, prompting better and more elaborate solutions. Maybe is perhaps the best concept of all… May Be, maybe - a way of saying nothing at all and at the same time saying it’s possible… best cliff-hanger evar!!

I like the way God made the heart. Inside.

Cause nowadays, everyone is so hell bent on scanning people right from the get go to figure out who they are and what they can do. Internal is more important than external.

My arms may seem nimble, but my heart is ripped.

Interpretation is the revenge of the intellect upon art. Even more. It is the revenge of the intellect upon the world. To interpret is to impoverish, to deplete the world—in order to set up a shadow world of “meanings.”“
~Susan Sontag

Interpretation is also what captures the beauty of the human condition: a platform of opinions (based on experience, sensory and intellectual) and not facts is what constitutes individual identity.

They say facts are in the nature of God.I say so what… opinions are far more exciting and interesting, because they can change, because they are the only thing we really own. That’s what we take away from the world, a set of values and beliefs incomprehensible to mathematics or science (although sometimes based on them) and it’s not like it really belongs to the world anyways. It belongs to something a little more abstract… like the God of Gods (the Gods of all the different faiths)

Happy Birthday Travis Benaiges, kindred spirit

Travis,

A little birdie once told me about how American culture has a problem with good-byes, how good-byes have no place in society because American culture only condones living your life in investments and a goodbye means a failed investment.

The little birdie also told me that he thinks that nothing does more justice to the time that you spend with someone or to any experience for the matter, than to know when it’s OVER and respectfully and admirably say good-bye.

That little birdie is a wise and virtuous thinker, whom I predict will one day lead some faction of the world.

That little birdie is you and baby you flying so high…

and you’re not afraid of good-bye which of course is probably one of the grandest realizations you had this year.

So, say good-bye to 19, but remember that 20 is 19+1. So 19 is still there if you rearrange the expression. Years aren’t separate, linearly independent entities; they amount and they are commutative.

and 19 was a bitch, but 20 will prove to be even bitchier, because life’s a bitch but death is even bitchier, and ironically then is the one time you won’t have to say good-bye ;-) because it’s not OVER ;-)

I love you!

Have fun tonight, but don’t do anything too crazy, or do, it might be a great way to start the new year on a left foot ;-)

Happy New Year! :-*
